The objective of our department Planning and Control of Production Systems is to contribute to the holistic optimization of production systems, specifically the interdisciplinary development, application and conveyance of new concept and methods in planning and control. Topics of consideration not only include aspects of technology, information and communication technology, but social-technical systems as well. They can pertain to single enterprises along the value chain, but also to entire production networks.
 
Results from our research are applied to industrial projects, but are integrated into the teaching material as well.
 
The department works in close cooperation with the research area Intelligent Production and Logistics Systems (IPS) at BIBA. Both are headed by Prof. Scholz-Reiter.
 
Prof. Scholz-Reiter is Editor of the professional journals Industrie Management and PPS Management.

Prof. Scholz-Reiter is a corresponding member of C.I.R.P., the International Institution for Production Engineering Research. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. .
